Recovery
I’d hit a rough patch, and for a while I was — to borrow Aimee Mann’s words — driving sideways. Lately, I feel like I’ve managed to get the wheels turned in the right direction. One day at a time, I’m pulling out of the skid.

Sorry to hear it, Mike, but glad you are on the mend.
Aimee Mann often says it best when things are shitty.

My thanks to you all. Like I said, it’s a one day at a time thing. Step by step, one might say.

Working on your dissertation must be pretty intense. Glad you’re back in step.

Driving sideways in circles. Dissetation hell. You may not realize how far your writing on class and teaching has come. Not just your knowledge, but the passion. The posts on your brother in prison, your Army days, and the teaching of writing all now come from the same man in the same voice. The authority is not just academic, but lived. Hope you drive straight on.
